Volunteers for Sporting Clays Shoot Needed Sept. 11
Mark and Kim Gibson are working to make the Sporting Clays Shoot next weekend go smoothly, and are realizing that they will be short volunteers. They need boys for scoring, not shooting. They travel around with a team and keep score of how many targets they shoot. The date is Saturday Sept. 11th, from 8:00am to about 2pm. Lunch is included and maybe some freebies like hats. Matt Ohms, the council representative, is offering 4 to 6 hours of community service as well.
There will be some setup and take down involved, but not huge heavy lifting, just moving tables, putting up and taking down easy ups and general running of errands before and after the shooting. They need to wear long pants, and hiking shoes would be good as well, no open toed shoes. Also, bug spray might be needed.
If you have any questions, please contact Kim or Mark Gibson.
Thanks!

$100 anyone?
Who wants a hundred bucks
to spend at the
scouting store?
I pulled this out of the Scouting magazine. seems to me that every scout would like a shot at the $100 prize. The clues make this way too easy. I Googled "Indian tour canyon" and found pics of this for the correct answer.

Service Hours Available
Anyone need some service hours? Saturday, September 4th, from 9 a.m. until about 11 a.m. at Resurrection Catholic Church, 2918 S. Country Club Rd., Woodstock. We will be pulling weeds to help clear out a area at the church. The scouts can contact Pam Bednarek at 815-337-7438. Thanks for your help!
Fish Fry -- Please Help!
The next Fish Fry is Friday September 10th and at the Court of Honor last night I mentioned that the Thunderbird Patrol was selected to help out. Afterwards I was informed that many of the members of the Thunderbird Patrol are from St Mary's and they are having their fun fair that night. With that being said, HELP!! I am now looking for additional help for the Fish Fry. Some members of the Spartans and Golden Eagle Patrols have helped in the past so I would like to ask those of you who have not helped yet to step forward. We will be working from 5pm to about 8pm and you will be fed dinner (adults only for working).
If you can help, contact me at 815-337-7438 or commchair329@hotmail.com
Thanks

AMVETS Freedoms Foundation Scholarship
Attention all high school aged Scouters:
Since 1987, AMVETS and the AMVETS National Service Foundation have offered this unique educational experience at the Freedoms Foundation in Valley Forge, Pennsylvania, to give young people a better appreciation of their freedoms granted by the United States Constitution. This year the program is scheduled from Thursday, November 4th to Sunday, November 11th.
The Spirit of America Program is a four day conference centering on topics such as freedom, civil rights and civic responsibilities, citizenship, public policy, self-development and leadership, entrepreneurship and salient aspects of American history. Programs allow students to explore within themselves their interpersonal characteristics and leadership potential through leadership skills workshops, group skills activities, and discussions with fellow participants. Programs are designed to provide an opportunity for students to participate in discussions with authoritative and articulate representatives from government, industry, and the academic community.
